Simpl Group, in collaboration with an oil company, has developed a digital platform for planning production indicators for field development. The solution is based entirely on domestic technologies and is a large-scale web platform that performs detailed calculations of all fluids (water, gas, oil, and gas condensate) from the field to individual layers and allows forecasts to be made for a hundred years ahead with monthly detail.
The oil and gas company faced serious challenges: traditional planning tools based on complex macros and cumbersome Excel spreadsheets were no longer able to cope with increasing data volumes and increasingly complex processes. At the same time, there were no ready-made solutions on the market capable of supporting the unique planning methodology developed within the company. Simpl Group transferred the methodology to a digital format, preserving its specificity and adapting it to modern requirements for scalability, accuracy, and ease of use.
Now, exploration and production teams can build multi-scenario forecasts, plan measures to increase production, estimate expected growth, and track actual performance. The platform consolidates data on oil, gas condensate, natural gas, and associated gas production into a single database, provides high-accuracy planning for up to 100 years, minimizes human error, and increases the transparency of decision-making.
“Production planning is one of the most complex tasks in the industry, on which the efficiency of the entire production chain depends. Today, leading oil and gas companies strive to fully integrate all processes in a single space. At Simpl, we create systems that combine data and processes in digital twins, and modern algorithms help make informed and timely decisions. Thanks to this, our products become full-fledged tools for everyday work: transparent, scalable, and convenient,” comments Anna Fedoseeva, Product Director at Simpl Group.
The solution has been put into commercial operation at one of Russia’s largest oil and gas companies, which manages tens of thousands of wells. As a result of its implementation, the time required to recalculate models has been reduced tenfold, planning accuracy has been improved by 15%, and the effect of the implementation has been comparable to 1% of the total FCF calculations, without increasing the number of staff.
The “digital twin of field development planning” is compatible with corporate data management groups, BI platforms, and investment modules, allowing it to be integrated into the existing digital ecosystem of enterprises. The solution is also ready for scaling within artificial intelligence technology and supports hybrid and local deployment models.
